MySQL Lost Grant Privilege

Friday, 26 September 2008 10:43

If you ever loose your grant privileges in mysql, you are in for a world of nightmares. But never fear, Hardco|2e Homework is here to help ease your pain. Much against popular belief on the internet, many guides do not work as they tell you to restart the wrong service with the right commands. So at least they are halfway there I guess.

Below are the commands, in order, that you will need to enter them.

 Please noe tho, whilst you are doing this your mysql server is open to attack as no root password is set. So be quick, or disconnect the device from the internet!

service mysqld stop
mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables
mysql
flush privileges;
frant all on *.* to "root"@"localhost" with grant option;
flush privileges;
quit;
service mysqld restart

Now just log in with your fully fledged full privileges mysql account :)
